Roosevelt Socks: A Tradition Returns
Did you attend Roosevelt in the 1960’s or 70’s? If so, do you remember ‘Roosevelt Socks’? Wigwam Mills of Sheboygan, Wis., produced the wool footwear with its distinctive navy stripes in the 1960s and ’70s and these socks were available at Reichardt’s, but that style of sock has been unavailable for many years.
Jim Stafford, a 1966 Roosevelt graduate, and Steve Dallenbach, a 1971 Roosevelt graduate wanted to see the return of the socks and also saw an opportunity to give back to the school. After contacting the CEO of Wigwam directly and providing him information and photos of the classic style, they have arranged with Wigwam to produce 600 pairs of the vintage socks. The socks will not be sold in stores.
