Students from Roosevelt are among the best public speakers in the nation, as they proved in Dallas this summer at the National Speech and Debate Tournament. Members of the team work tirelessly to practice and perfect their arguments an d their performances, researching and speaking on topics across the full spectrum of political and social interests.
Their hard work paid off! Roosevelt was recognized as a School of Excellence in Speech and School of Excellence in Debate. These awards are given to teams that finish in the top 20.
Jocelyn “Mo” Marks took 1st place in Impromptu (Speech), receiving a $1,000 scholarship
Madeline Kahl took 13th in the nation in Informative Speaking (Speech)
Cael Fitch received 14th in the nation in Humorous Interpretation (Speech)
