Mindy Euken returns to Roosevelt after leading Valley Southwoods in West Des Moines

The TRHS community is welcoming back a familiar face. Mindy Euken is a seasoned educator and administrator with nearly 20 years of experience in central Iowa, including more than a decade at Roosevelt High School. Most recently, she served as principal at Valley Southwoods High School in West Des Moines, where she led significant gains in student achievement across all student groups.

Euken’s leadership experience includes roles as associate principal at both Roosevelt and Lincoln high schools, instructional coach, and world languages curriculum coordinator for the district. She has also served as an adjunct professor in Drake University’s School of Education, teaching more than 300 DMPS educators pursuing their master’s degrees. She began her career as a Spanish teacher at Roosevelt, where she developed the school’s Spanish for Heritage Learners program and helped expand access to AP coursework for bilingual students.

Euken is a graduate of Drake University, where she earned a specialist degree in literacy education, a master’s degree in curriculum and urban education, and a Bachelor of Science in secondary Spanish education.

“As a member of the Roosevelt community and the parent of a future Roughrider, I'm so excited to return to serve in this role.  I am ready to lead Roosevelt toward our vision of excellence through a dedicated and intentional focus on unity, equity, and integrity,” says Principal Euken.
